Get compliant with the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General latest Special Advisory Bulletin. Last month the OIG updated its Special Advisory Bulletin on the Effect of Exclusion from Participation in Federal Health Care Programs. While some requirements stayed the same, the OIG provided clarification and examples on what it expects providers to be doing.
In order to comply with Conditions of Participation, healthcare providers must stay current with these mandated screening requirements CMS regulations state that “[N]o payment will be made by Medicare, Medicaid, or any of the other federal health care programs for any items or service furnished by an excluded individual or entity….” In August the Centers for Medicaid & CHIP Services, under the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, issued an Information Bulletin notifying Medicaid Directors of GSA’s change to System for Award Management (SAM) and reminding the Medicaid agency of their requirement to screen the GSA exclusion data.

This webinar will address and explain these recent changes, including the new OIG Special Advisory Bulletin, updates on GSA SAM and what you need to know in order to continue compliance sanction screening. In addition, we will cover the latest State Medicaid sanction screening requirements that are mandating separate screening against their own Medicaid sanction lists. Specific topics will include:
For participating in the webinar you may receive a published article “EPLS Migrates to SAM with Little Fanfare” that describes the changes that GSA implemented without guidance to the health care community. In addition, you can opt for an up to date sanction screening policy template that encompasses all the recent federal changes and current mandates. Participants will also be eligible for free sanction screening services to screen their current month’s list using the CRC’s S³ tool.
