Sanction and exclusion screening is a key element to any effective compliance program. Yet, many healthcare organizations struggle with implementing an effective process that is easy to maintain and produces reliable accurate results. This Webinar will take a deep dive into healthcare sanctions and exclusions and provide attendees with actionable tips and practices to improve the way they currently carry out their own screening process.

Presenters for the Webinar include two highly experienced healthcare compliance consultants in designing, implementing and carrying out effective sanction screening programs.

The speakers will address the following key areas of the screening process:

  • Understanding regulatory requirements and government agencies’ expectations for providers, including how the Affordable Care Act affected screening requirements and deciphering which federal and state agencies you should be screening and why.
  • Identifying the correct type of individuals and entities that need to be screen based on what the OIG advises and learning which lists are mandatory to screen verses the lists that are optional and why.
  • Implementing an effective monthly screening process that considers a centralized verses decentralized approach, tools and vendor services to streamline your process, how to verify the results of the screening and the key data needed to do it correctly and generating meaningful and actionable reports for the Compliance Officer, the Executive Compliance Committee and the Board.
  • Understanding the risk of engaging an excluded individual or entity, including the penalties, what to do if you identify an excluded individual or entity and what else can be done in addition to monthly screenings to be proactive in identifying exclusions.

Throughout the presentation, the presenters will discuss best practices, tips and their own experience making the sanction screening process work effectively and efficiently. The presenters will leave time at the end for questions from attendees.
