HHS Issues Notices of Privacy Practices Models

The Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights (OCR) and Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) recently issued Notices of Privacy Practices models that meet the requirements under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act Omnibus Rule. The models available include: (1) a notice in the form of a booklet; (2) a layered notice that presents a summary of information on the first page, followed by full content in the remaining pages; (3) a full page presentation notice containing all design elements found in the booklet; and (4) a text only version of the notice.  Health care providers and health plans may customize their Notices of Privacy Practices on OCR’s website.
