BLS Reports Increase of Nearly 40,000 New Health Care Employees.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) recently reported on the increase in health care sector hiring. According to the BLS, health care hiring increased by 39,400 jobs in July, reaching the highest level in over a year. The July numbers followed a strong gain of 36,600 jobs in June. In July, hiring amongst clinics with ambulatory care centers constituted approximately 30, 000 of the month’s hiring figures. Additionally, home health care agencies accounted for the increase of 11,300 jobs. Outpatient centers and hospitals were the third leading health care employers, with each organization category adding 7,300 jobs in July. Notably, these gains were made against the backdrop of congressional plans to repeal the Affordable Care Act and significantly scale back Medicaid funding.
